FAQ

What is a DTF transfer?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers are a modern printing method that involves transferring a design onto a special film using a digital printer. This film is then coated with a powder adhesive and cured. The cured film can then be applied to a variety of substrates, such as fabrics, plastics, and even metal, using a heat press for just 15 seconds.

This method offers several advantages, including:

  • Versatility: DTF can be used on a wide range of materials.
  • Durability: DTF prints are highly durable and resistant to fading and cracking.
  • High-quality prints: DTF produces vibrant, detailed prints with a soft, almost fabric-like feel.
  • No pre-treatment: Unlike some other printing methods, DTF doesn't require pre-treatment of the substrate.
How many can I order?

There's no limit to the number of DTF transfers you can order! Whether you need a few for a small project or a large quantity for a bulk order, we're here to accommodate your needs. From 1 to 100,000, we can handle it all!

What press should I use?

While a professional-grade heat press is ideal for large-scale production or consistent results, you can also achieve excellent quality with a household iron. However, it's important to use a high-quality iron with a steam setting and a Teflon pressing sheet to protect your iron and prevent sticking.

Here's a breakdown of the options:

  • Household Iron: Suitable for smaller quantities or occasional use, but may require more time and effort to achieve consistent results.
  • Manual Heat Press: Offers better control and consistency than an iron, but may be more expensive.
  • Automatic Heat Press: Provides the highest level of control and efficiency, but is also the most expensive option.

No matter the size of your project, we have the DTF transfers to bring your vision to life.

How well do transfers last through washing?

At Atlas Print, we've conducted rigorous testing on our DTF transfers to ensure exceptional durability. Our transfers have been subjected to multiple washes, including hot water and harsh detergents, to simulate real-world conditions.

Based on our testing, we've found that our DTF transfers are highly resistant to fading, cracking, and peeling. When properly applied and cared for, our transfers can maintain their vibrant colors and sharp details even after numerous washes.

To maximize the lifespan of your DTF transfers, we recommend:

Washing inside out: This helps protect the transfer from abrasion.

Using cold water and a gentle detergent: Hot water and harsh detergents can accelerate wear and tear.

Avoiding bleach: Bleach can damage the transfer and cause fading.

Line drying or tumble drying on low heat: High heat can shrink the fabric or damage the transfer.

By following these care instructions, you can enjoy long-lasting, high-quality DTF transfers that will look great for years to come.

Which file format should I use for my artwork?

For optimal print quality and scalability, we recommend using vector art files for your DTF transfer designs. Vector art is composed of mathematical equations, which allows it to be resized without losing resolution. This means your designs will look crisp and sharp regardless of the size or printing method.

If you're unable to provide vector art, we can accept raster images (such as JPEGs or PNGs). However, these files must have a minimum resolution of 300 dots per inch (dpi) to ensure adequate detail and prevent pixelation.

Here's a breakdown of recommended file formats:

  • Vector formats:
  • Raster formats:

Please note that while we accept these file formats, other formats may be considered depending on the specific requirements of your project. If you have any questions about file formats or design guidelines, don't hesitate to contact our customer support team.
